The Hall School of Journalism and Communication netted 6 awards during the Southeastern Jounalism Conference's 2024 Best of the South Competition. The compettion is held annually and this year Troy was the host of the conference.

The 2023 Mr. and Miss Trojan Pride finalists were recently announced. Mr. ans Miss Trojan Pride is a way to honor and recognize a male and female student that is heavily involved on campus and in the community, and takes great pride in being a Trojan. This honor began in 2021

The Pathfinder Program is a collaborative partnership between Career Services and Academic Advising designed to help students feel confident in their major and career path. Students who complete the program must have taken TROY 1102: Major Exploration & Planning, completed the Focus2 /Career Coach Assessment, and scheduled a meeting with their Pathfinder Advisor and declare their new major.

Troy University's Office of Career Services in the John. W Scmidt Center for Student Success is proud to recognize students who completed the Career Ready program. Students who take part in the program must complete two out of three options. They can choose to do a Resume Review by career services, attend a career fair, or complete a mock interview with Career Serices.

Troy University is proud to recognize students who completed the Peace Corps Prep program. Students in the program must complete 18 hours of academic credit, professional development, and 50 service hours through Troy's Civic Engagement program. Upon completion of the program, the students receive a certificate from the Peace Corps as well as a competitive edge when applying for Peace Corps service.

The Hall School of Journalism and Communication netted 12 awards during the Southeastern Jounalism Conference's 2021 Best of the South Competition. Despite quarantines, shutdowns and finding a new way of getting their jobs done, Troy students captured the awards competition from 27 other schools. As well as individual awards, Troy Public Radio's "Talk of Troy" won second place for Best Radio Program, while Troy TrojanVision won second place for Best College TV Station and third place for Best Video News Program.

The Hall School of Journalism recently made strong showings at major regional and international conferences, earning awards in a variety of categories.

Students enrolled in International Economics (ECO 4451) at the Dothan Campus recently toured the Hyundai manufacturing facility in Montgomery, Ala. Dr. Lane Eckis led a group of students on July 20 on a hands-on tour of the facility. Students learned about the impact of the automotive industry within Alabama. "We spent a great deal of time studying the level of international relations within our own state and actually got to view a segment of it through this tour," Eckis said. "Each and every student in attendance raved about the benefits of the tour. Based on statistics, it is possible our graduates will work in some area tied to the automotive industry if they remain in Alabama. It was indeed a great learning experience."

Troy University students visited Civil Rights history sites in Montgomery and took part in the 50th anniversary celebration of the Selma to Montgomery march during bus trips sponsored by the Office of Student Services and 101 ELITE Men.
