The Lamar P. Higgins Leadership Award recognizes students who exhibit a commitment to serving others and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership during their time at Troy University. Named in memory of TROY's first African-American Board of Trustees member, Higgins was also the first African-American elected to a leadership position on the Board as Vice President Pro Tempore. During his time as a student at TROY, he became the first African-American to be elected as Student Government Association President.

Troy University is proud to recognize students who were inducted into the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 to honor excellence in all academic disciplines. The honor society recognizes top juniors, seniors and graduate students who meet specific eligibility criteria. Students were inducted in a ceremony on April 15.

The Honors Convocation was held on Friday, April 19, at the Dothan Campus. Dr. Kirk Davis, Dothan Campus Chief Operating Officer, gave the welcome address, and the event was preceeded by a reception for the honorees and their guests.

Troy University's Art and Design Department won 27 Awards in the American Advertising Awards Competition this year. Troy University announced the students who were awarded during a ceremony in February. This competition is held every year by the American Advertising Federation, which is the oldest national advertising trade association in the United States.

The Hall School of Journalism and Communication netted 6 awards during the Southeastern Jounalism Conference's 2024 Best of the South Competition. The compettion is held annually and this year Troy was the host of the conference.
