Troy University

The Lamar P. Higgins Leadership Award recognizes students who exhibit a commitment to serving others and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership during their time at Troy University. Named in memory of TROY's first African-American Board of Trustees member, Higgins was also the first African-American elected to a leadership position on the Board as Vice President Pro Tempore. During his time as a student at TROY, he became the first African-American to be elected as Student Government Association President.

Troy University is pleased to recognize students who completed the requirements for graduation during the Fall Semester and Term 2 of the 2024-2025 academic year. The Fall Semester includes graduates from the Troy, Ala., campus. Term 2 graduates include students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., along with teaching sites outside of Alabama and online.

Full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who have a grade point average of at least 3.65 qualify for the Provost's List. The Fall Semester includes students at the Troy, Ala., campus. Term 2 includes students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., along with locations outside of Alabama and online.

The Fall Semester includes students at the Troy, Ala., campus. Term 2 includes students at TROY's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., along with locations outside of Alabama and online.

Troy University is proud to recognize students who were named members of "The 87". The 87, formerly Who's Who, recognizes juniors, seniors and graduate students who have excelled in campus leadership and in their academic area.

Troy University is pleased to recognize new students who have completed IMPACT orientation and enrolled in classes for the Fall 2024 semester.

The Honors Convocation was held on Friday, April 19, at the Dothan Campus. Dr. Kirk Davis, Dothan Campus Chief Operating Officer, gave the welcome address, and the event was preceeded by a reception for the honorees and their guests.

Troy University is proud to recognize students who were inducted into the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 to honor excellence in all academic disciplines. The honor society recognizes top juniors, seniors and graduate students who meet specific eligibility criteria. Students were inducted in a ceremony on April 15.

Troy University is proud to announce students who have been accepted for admission for Fall 2025.

Troy University's Art and Design Department won 27 Awards in the American Advertising Awards Competition this year. Troy University announced the students who were awarded during a ceremony in February. This competition is held every year by the American Advertising Federation, which is the oldest national advertising trade association in the United States.

The Hall School of Journalism and Communication netted 6 awards during the Southeastern Jounalism Conference's 2024 Best of the South Competition. The compettion is held annually and this year Troy was the host of the conference.

Troy University students voted to select five women and five men to represent the student body as the Homecoming Court during TROY's homecoming game on Oct. 7.

The Troy University Sorrell College of Business and School of Accountancy celebrated Accountancy Day on September 7. The ceremony honored students as well as provided scholarships for students in the program.

More than 200 Troy University students studied around the world during the 2022-23 school year. Students studied in various programs on 5 continents in nearly 20 different countries to earn academic credit as well gain international awareness.

Troy University is pleased to recognize students who will serve on the Student Government Association Executive Branch in the 2023-24 school year following an election at the Troy Campus.

Troy University School of Nursing students will now have greater opportunities with the launch of the Nursing Student Apprenticeship Program. Twenty-eight students joined the inaugural class of the program during a ceremony on Jan. 10 on the Troy campus. The apprenticeship program is a two-year program that will provide on-the-job training for nursing students while getting paid for clinical time.

Troy University recently named 13 students as Social Media Ambassadors for the 2021-2022 school year. The ambassadors help the university's social media accounts by developing ideas, creating content, peforming acount takeovers, and other things to promote the university through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tik Tok.

The Hydrographic Society of America recently awarded scholarships to two Troy University students. Students Cameron Morris of Chatom, Alabama, and Phillip "Scott" Dowdy of Hokes Bluff, Alabama, were the recipients. The scholarships are awarded to full-time students seeking degrees in hydrographic surveying, ocean mapping, geomatics, ocean sciences, geographic information system (GIS), ocean engineering or electrical engineering. Morris and Dowdy each received a scholarship of $1,000 from the Southeast Chapter of THSOA

More than 30 members of Troy University's Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity will walk nearly 130 miles from the Troy Campus to Panama City Beach, Fla., in support of wounded veterans.
